Pretty Heart

Pretty Heart is pop noire from Perrysburg, Ohio. Behind this cutesy name is the now 19-year old Morgan Holliger who began making music using her laptop when she was only 16. She's released two EPs so far: "Blood/Body" and "Half Asleep". Go grab her stuff over at Bandcamp.

London-sister Martha and Jessica Kilpatrick sing about "love, hate, madness and dreams" and describe their music as "choral punk". They go under the name Waterbaby and have been compared to the sounds of Austra, Zola Jesus and Grimes. Personally, they make me think of Kate Bush. And that's always enough of a reason to stick around, really. Have a listen and judge for yourself.

Melbourne-multi-instrumentalist James Wallaces will release a new EP titled Heartful in the beginning of 2013. Here's the first taste off the EP. I personally loved the debut EP Sketches so if you haven't listened to that one yet, I recommend you do!

Chlöe Howl

Chlöe Howl is a 17 year old redhead who's already made her debut on the electro-pop scene with this cute single No Strings. Keep in mind that Robyn was around that age when she made her debut...

Brolin is a self-taught guy whose music reminds me quite a lot of Youth Lagoon. However, Brolin's voice sets the two apart, so do check him out! Lovely dreamy music. Keep him in mind.

The Knife

It's been 7 years since The Knife released their latest studio album (Silent Shout, that is. We're not counting the Tomorrow, In a Year opera). A lot of us had probably given up hope that they'd ever make a comeback, so it comes as an awesome surprise that they're releasing a new album early next year! The band's comment to this is as follows:

Music can be so meaningless. We had to find lust. We asked our friends and lovers to help us.

Meanwhile, enjoy the mysterious teaser to their new album.

I am obsessed with this track from Swedish MC/pop-powerhouse Elliphant! They're expected to release an EP in January and I'm thinking it's something to look out for. Especially if you're in need of something that'll lighten up the the winter darkness.
